So, What Exactly is a Women’s Holistic Health Coach?
It is a coach who helps women achieve optimal health and well-being through sustainable lifestyle changes. They use a holistic approach that considers the mind, body, and spirit, and may draw on a variety of disciplines, including nutrition, fitness, psychology, and wellness.
What Does a Women’s Holistic Health Coach Do?
These coaches meet their clients where they are at and help create a customized health and wellness plan that is focused on holistic areas. This means the approach is not just about helping their client to lose weight or eat healthier. They collaborate together to get to the root of what the client wants to accomplish and assess all areas of health, including exercise, nutrition, stress, sleep, social and even spiritual support. This leads clients to feel in control of their health and wellness and instead of making abrupt changes, the goals are all around being attainable and sticking to it.
Who Should Work With a Holistic Health Coach?
Women that are tired of looking for quick fixes, crash diets and workouts leaving the exhausted are all great candidates for a Holistic Health Coach. This is an approach that allows the client to work at their own pace, and with the assistance of the coach, map out how they can execute to create small wins.
3 Benefits of Working With a Women’s Holistic Health Coach
You get to create your own journey.
Many times health and wellness can feel like the same thing over and over repackaged. Many women who start working with a coach say they felt excited to have someone listen and help them to create a vision and plan that was right for their life at that moment. This was a different type of goal setting. Clients celebrate small wins and feel energized to keep moving forward with habits that they know are important for longevity. For many, things finally clicked in how to adhere to a plan and results were not just reserved for the first few weeks or months.
You experience a well-rounded approach to health and wellness.
There is a time and place for specialized coaches, and working with a women’s holistic coach allows you to work on all aspects of health. It won’t just be about the workouts or the nutrition. It will be about exploring all areas of your health including stress management, sleep, water intake, and healthy habits to create a more balanced approach to living and thriving.
You can experience exploring both physical and emotional aspects of health.
Many clients I work with have appreciated being able to connect the dots between their emotional health and how they approach their health and wellness goals. We have all been there where we “need to eat better”, “we should be working out.” Yet we never explore what the roadblocks are in starting such as balancing the time between work and family or other life responsibilities that make it difficult to say yes to making changes for their health. Working with a coach can allow you time and space to dive into not only your motivations, but also your derailments and how to move forward in a way that makes sense for you.
Tips for Finding the Right Holistic Health Coach
Do your research.
Health and Wellness falls into the category of Fitness which is an unregulated industry. This means there are lots of different certifications out there to become a Health Coach. It is a term that many people use without any actual formal training. So what should you be looking for? Find out about their education and how long they’ve been doing it. What kinds of clients do they take? There is an array of certifications, but a select amount makes the person eligible to sit for the Board Certification Exam to become a Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach. These certifications all include practical exams and a log of coaching hours. It also attracts a wide background of professionals. You could find someone with a ton of formal training in a related field (such as Social Work or Nursing) who opted for a simpler certification path to add onto their training.
Set up a free call to get a vibe.
This is a collaborative relationship with coaching calls or meetings being a necessity. So finding the right person you jive with is important. Find out if they do free calls or would be willing to chat briefly on the phone. Find out their specialties and who they tend to work with. This is your chance to explore more and ensure you find someone you can see yourself moving forward with.
Be open to something new.
This is a different approach for many people, especially those who have worked with other health and wellness professionals such as trainers, instructors or other types of coaches. The work is very much internal at first. I tell new clients that Health Coaching should be the engine of the car, the backbone of the whole program. We can easily write you a fitness program or nutrition plan. But if there are no goals, there is no vision, there is to execution plan.
